Despite improvements in detection and prevention, dental caries remains the most prevalent chronic disease worldwide, with the majority of cases untreated. Now, Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus by Swiss dental company vVARDIS offers a biomimetic system for the noninvasive treatment of early-stage caries through guided enamel remineralization.

No more watch and wait

According to Dr. Justin Rashbaum, a firm believer in interceptive dentistry and one of the top-ranked general and cosmetic dentists in New York, conventional approaches to treating early carious lesions need to be improved on. The patented Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus low-viscosity formulation allows ions from the patient’s saliva to diffuse into the enamel surface and to initiate the remineralization process within early carious lesions. Its precise and targeted application on the surface of early carious lesions makes it possible to treat them with just one application in a simple in-office procedure that lasts only up to 10 minutes. With one applicator, up to three lesions can be treated in the same patient. The chairside procedure is completely pain-free and does not require anesthesia or strict isolation techniques. The formulation works on all surfaces and is nonstaining and can thus be used on all teeth, including those in the aesthetic zone. Furthermore, it is tasteless. For all these reasons, it is well received by patients, particularly children.

Increased productivity within the dental team

Apart from the benefits it brings to patients, it is easy for the clinician to learn how to use and so has seen quick acceptance by dental professionals everywhere. Practices also view it as an untapped growth opportunity. The procedure can be done by any dental professional, and it is often the hygienist who performs it after confirmation of the diagnosis by a dentist.
