As some states consider reopening, ADA offers PPE guidance to dentists

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommended on March 16 that dentists restrict their practices to all but urgent and emergency care. This recommendation was later extended until April 30 at the earliest. The intent of the recommendation was to observe social distancing, help mitigate the spread of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus, conserve essential personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical frontline colleagues, and avoid the need for patients requiring emergency dental treatment to go to overburdened hospital emergency departments.

3-D printed swabs help fill gap in COVID-19 test kits

Innovation at the University of Louisville involving multiple departments has led to a promising solution for the shortage of swabs in COVID-19 test kits. In response to a request from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, UofL’s Additive Manufacturing Institute of Science & Technology (AMIST), along with faculty and students in the Schools of Dentistry, Engineering and Medicine, have created a 3-D printed swab made of a pliable resin material.

Dentists report financial impact of COVID-19 on their practices

Endodontists from all three Boston dental schools provide donated care to local patients
