NEW YORK and ROCHESTER, NY, USA: Some companies are always looking for new ways to improve their products. Among them are KODAK and Carestream Health, which just introduced a new X-ray system. For those who have other systems already, upgrades are available.

The new KODAK 2200 intraoral X-ray system, from Carestream Health, based in Rochester, NY, USA, is designed to enable dental professionals to obtain sharp, contrasted X-ray images at the minimum dose. Optimized for both film and digital radiography usage, the system includes a redesigned electronic timer that makes the setting of exposure parameters failsafe. It also offers a new mounting configuration for users of the popular Trophy IRIX X-ray systems — providing a convenient, cost-effective upgrade option for these customers.

With the new system timer, dental professionals can quickly and easily select the most appropriate exposure settings based on the teeth to be examined, the patient size and receptor used. It includes an intuitive control wheel for easy tooth and program selection, and automatically calculates the optimum exposure time and dose settings. Additionally, the dose level is displayed after each exposure so radiation dose can be tracked and monitored.

Upgrade path

With one of the largest installed bases across Europe, users of previous generation Trophy IRIX X-ray units can easily and cost-effectively upgrade to the new KODAK 2200 intraoral X-ray system, according to the manufacturer. The new wall mounting unit enables IRIX customers to upgrade without completely dismantling their current setup, providing them with all the advantages of the new system including higher image quality, reduced dose and more options for better diagnosis.

According to the manufacturer, the system’s very high-frequency generator emits constant radiation, maximizing useful X-rays to significantly reduce levels of patient radiation. Equipped with a focal spot of 0.7 mm, the KODAK 2200 System offers adjustable kV settings so users can optimize the radiographic image according to their diagnostic needs.

Carestream Health, a provider of dental and medical imaging and IT solutions, is the exclusive maker of KODAK Dental Systems.
