Caries is one of the oldest known oral diseases and remains one of the most prevalent noncommunicable diseases worldwide despite preventive measures over the past century. A core reason is that caries is often treated only at an advanced stage, when the tooth surface has collapsed and a cavity has formed. In the early stages, most carious lesions are left untreated, significantly increasing the risk of caries progression and causing both physical discomfort and mental stress.

Managing carious lesions in their early stages, when they are noncavitated and largely asymptomatic, is a significant advancement in caries treatment. Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus, developed by Swiss company vVARDIS, offers a noninvasive, targeted solution specifically for these initial stages of caries. This unique biomimetic system allows for the management of early caries through guided enamel remineralization. This patented, low-viscosity liquid formula diffuses through the enamel, enabling remineralization with calcium and phosphate from the patient’s saliva. Applying Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus to early lesions is a simple in-office procedure that can be performed by dentists or hygienists. The formulation is nonstaining and suitable for all teeth and surfaces, including those in the aesthetic zone.

In addition to Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus, vVARDIS has introduced Curodont Protect, an anticavity and antisensitivity dental gel that complements in-office treatment with Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus. Curodont Protect aids in cavity prevention and protection from dentin hypersensitivity. This transparent, easy-to-apply gel acts on enamel and dentin to prevent demineralization, effectively helping to prevent caries progressing and to prevent white spot lesions while protecting against painful sensitivity.

Curodont Protect is recommended for use once or twice a week after a one-time in-office treatment with Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus. For patients suffering from dentin hypersensitivity, it should be applied once or several times a day until the pain subsides.

By using Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus for early caries in-office treatment and Curodont Protect for at-home complementary care, new carious lesions can be prevented from forming. More information about Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus and Curodont Protect can be found at professional.vvardis.com.
