ZUG, Switzerland: Dental company vVARDIS has secured financing of $35 million (€33.9 million*) to support its growth initiatives, including the further commercialization of Curodont. The innovative product line allows clinicians to treat early caries in 5–10 minutes without drilling, saving chair time and resources. The commercial expansion of Curodont began in earnest in the U.S. last year. According to vVARDIS, thousands of U.S. dental clinics are already using Curodont, and the product was used to treat 300,000 teeth in 2024.
The capital injection was provided by U.S. investment firm OrbiMed, and the Swiss dental manufacturer explained in a press release that the two companies share the vision of developing vVARDIS into a leading supplier of innovative dental products. As the market transitions from invasive to noninvasive care and the adoption of artificial intelligence-driven detection of early tooth decay accelerates, vVARDIS products are well aligned with current market trends, vVARDIS said.
Matthew Rizzo, a partner at OrbiMed, commented: “We are confident that vVARDIS has the scientific knowledge and capabilities to become a global powerhouse in the dental market [...] The growth ambition of the company and its focus on providing innovative solutions in a global dental market are at the core of our investment strategy.”
Drs. Haley and Goly Abivardi, founders and co-CEOs of vVARDIS, shared their excitement about the partnership, stating that OrbiMed’s funding and expertise will help advance vVARDIS’s mission to provide early caries treatment that is pain-free, regenerative and accessible. They said: “Dental professionals have been waiting for decades for a drill-free treatment of early decay. Curodont has the potential to broaden the scope of options offered by dental practices and empower them to enhance patient care.”
