LEIPZIG, Germany: A new webinar, to be presented by the Biolase Campus on July 15, will demonstrate a laser supported concept for periodontal therapy, developed by German dentist and researcher Prof. Norbert Gutknecht. The online course is free of charge and offers participants the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit.
According to Gutknecht’s concept, the 940 nm diode laser is used for effective bacterial reduction and the 2,780 nm Er,Cr:YSGG laser with a radial firing tip is applied to remove biofilm and calculus, as well as infected tissue, such as the epithelial layer and granulation tissue. The webinar demonstrates how these laser wavelengths are integrated into Gutknecht’s overall periodontal therapy concept, in addition to classical diagnosis and therapy tools. All of the steps of his concept will be introduced, illustrated and explained on the basis of evidence-based experience and research.
Gutknecht, who will be presenting the online course, is a professor at RWTH Aachen University and Vice-Director of the Clinic for Conservative Dentistry, Periodontology and Preventive Dentistry. Moreover, he is the Director of the Aachen Dental Laser Center at RWTH Aachen Campus, CEO of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry, as well as President of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Laserzahnheilkunde [German association of laser dentistry].
The one-hour webinar, titled “Laser supported periodontal treatment concept by Gutknecht, using the Waterlase iPlus with two wavelengths Diode 940nm and Er,Cr:YSGG 2780nm,” is free of charge and will be broadcast online on Wednesday, July 15, at 5 p.m. CEST. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic discussed.
Registration for the webinar is now open on the Biolase Campus website.
