NEW YORK, N.Y., USA: The 2015 Greater New York Dental Meeting, held Nov. 29 to Dec. 2, offered attendees the opportunity to explore the latest advancements in dental products, techniques and technologies — all in a single location. The exhibit hall wasn’t just a showcase; it was a nonstop education center, with classes in session all day long in virtually every booth.

A wide array of educational offerings was available.

At the World Implant Expo, attendees could take their implant skills to the next level with sessions on various topics. From ridge augmentation to complex restorative cases, attendees could learn from some top implant leaders, including Dr. Shankar Iyer and Dr. Scott Ganz.

The Global Orthodontic Conference — the first orthodontic conference to be held at GNYDM — offered sessions led by experts such as Dr. Marianna Evans, whose classes focused on the “3-D Guided Approach of the Maxillary Impacted Canines” and “3-D Guided Approach to Muco-Gingival Problems in Orthodontics.”

The Live Dentistry Arena offered free sessions throughout the meeting in a high-tech arena on the exhibit hall floor. One highlight: Dr. Robert A. Lowe spoke on “The Role of Bioactive Materials and Conservative Restorative Techniques in Modern Dentistry.” Attendees could learn when and where bioactive materials can help in the restorative process.

Also in the Live Dentistry Arena, Dr. Alex Touchstone and Angela Severance, CDD, spoke on “Optimizing CAD/CAM Workflow with Team Delegation.” In this session, the clinicians guided attendees through a digital restorative workflow for the creation and delivery of a functional/esthetic restoration. Attendees were able to observe how the digital restorative process works in everyday practice on a live patient.

Among the most appealing opportunities to be found in the exhibit hall at the Greater New York Dental Meeting were the many show specials and other deals being offered by the many dental product companies. It was a great time to not just learn about the many new innovations and offerings; it was also a great time to stock up on favorite supplies.

Sunstar Americas was packed with colorful show specials. A couple examples: GUM adult toothbrushes and specialty toothbrushes, Crayola Marker and Pip-Squeaks toothbrushes, and Crayola Flossers and Crayola toothpaste.

Garfield Refining offered $50 to new customers who send in at least $100 worth of scrap gold — on top of what the company pays for the gold. You can ship your gold material (no need to separate it first) to the company from anywhere in the country. Mention “GNYDM 2015” to get the $50.

In the OCO Biomedical booth, attendees could see the company’s Guided Surgery System and meet Chief Operating Officer and Director of Clinical Affairs Charles Schlesinger, DDS. Also, attendees could preview the company’s updated and expanded “2016 OCO Regenerative Products Catalog.”

DentalEZ launched two new products at the Greater New York Dental Meeting: the Ortho Cart and the StarDental iStar cordless prophy handpiece.

Parkell was providing a 45-day, risk-free trial of its Blu-Mousse bite-registration material, which, on top of all its other versatility, is also scannable.

Benco Dental was offering a deal where if you trade in your old intraoral camera, you can receive $1,500 toward a DocPort I.O., which requires no focus, has a no-fog design and works with any software.
