AAE names several members to key leadership posts

NEW YORK, NY and CHICAGO, IL, USA: The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) recently installed five new members to its Board of Directors and several members to leadership positions for its Foundation Board of Trustees. During its Annual Session, held in April in Orlando, FL, the AAE also installed five new members of its Board of Directors for the 2009-2010 term. 



They are: Dr Margot T. Kusienski of Lititz, PA, District I; Dr Steven Roberts of Martinez, GA, District III; Dr Martha E. Proctor of Chicago, IL, District IV; Dr Robert A. Augsburger of Tulsa, OK, District V; and Dr Fred S. Tsutsui of Torrance, CA, District VII. 

In addition, for the first time the president of the AAE Foundation, Dr A. Eddy Skidmore of Boynton Beach, FL, will sit on the board as a voting ex officio member.



The AAE, headquartered in Chicago, represents more than 7,000 members worldwide, including approximately 95 per cent of all eligible endodontists in the United States. The association, founded in 1943, is dedicated to excellence in the art and science of endodontics and to the highest standard of patient care. The association inspires its members to pursue professional advancement and personal fulfillment through education, research, advocacy, leadership, communication and service. 

Also at its recent 2009 Annual Session in Orlando, Dr A. Eddy Skidmore was named president of the AAE’s Foundation Board of Trustees for the 2009-2010 year. Additionally, three new AAE members were nominated and three public-sector trustees were renominated.


Dr Skidmore, a former professor, chairman and graduate program director at the Department of Endodontics at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry, joined the AAE in 1969. He has served on the organization’s Educational Affairs and Continuing Education Committees, and the AAE Board of Directors from 1997 to 2000. Dr Skidmore currently teaches endodontics part-time at Nova Southeastern College of Dentistry. He is a past president of the American Board of Endodontics and is a member of the American Dental Association, the West Virginia Dental Association, the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists. He was in private endodontic practice in Morgantown, WV, from 1993 to 2004, and he is now retired, living in Boynton Beach, FL.

The AAE Foundation’s 2009-2010 appointments are: 

Dr Kevin M. Keating of Sacramento, CA; Dr Peter A. Morgan of Eastern, MA; Bill Newell, vice president and general manager of DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties of Tulsa, OK; Dr Mary Pettiette of Pinehurst, NC; GorgAnna Randolph of ProBusiness Systems in Cedar Park, TX; and Michael Stone of New York-based Schick Technologies.

The AAE Foundation, headquartered in Chicago and incorporated in 1966, is the philanthropic arm of the AAE. As a 501(c) (3) charity organization, its mission is to improve the oral health by securing contributions, shepherding resources and sharing grant funds that support research, generate new knowledge and enhance endodontic education. The foundation provides the specialty with resources to address needs, meet challenges and realize dreams for the future.
