Phoenix, AZ, USA: The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and Zimmer Dental, based in Carlsbad, CA, USA, have recognized the dental implant program at the University of Southern California (USC) with an honor and financial support. The ADEA/Zimmer Dental Implant Education Teaching Award was presented to the USC Department of Primary Oral Health Care during the 86th ADEA Annual Session, held here recently.

“Zimmer Dental is proud to partner with the ADEA in offering this award to support innovators in the field of implant dentistry who lead in the education of the next generation of implantologists,” said Harold C. Flynn Jr., president of Zimmer Dental, in a news release following presentation of the award.

The ADEA/Zimmer Dental Implant Education Teaching Award recognizes an institution and dental educator team that has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of implant dentistry education. Education and instruction in the field may occur in a variety of settings, including classroom or laboratory environments, clinical teaching or preceptorships, community-based instructional opportunities, or electronically mediated teaching and learning experiences.

The program provides an award of $25,000 in recognition of excellence and innovation in implant dentistry education. The award, given once every two years, is divided equally between the winning institution and dental educator team. Associate Professors George C. Cho, DDS, and Winston WanLi Chee, DDS, accepted the award on behalf of the school.

“ADEA is grateful to Zimmer Dental for its support and congratulates the University of Southern California Department of Primary Oral Health Care on their achievements,” said ADEA President Charles N. Bertolami, DDS, D.Med.Sc.
