ATLANTA, Ga., USA: The Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting has launched the #MyHinman campaign to raise scholarship funds for three deserving students. Hinman asks participants to post a short video or a photo using the hashtag #MyHinman on social media and share things, such as why you look forward to coming to Hinman each year, how many years you’ve been attending, a favorite memory from a past Hinman and/or what makes Hinman different from other dental meetings.
With each video or photo posted, Hinman will make a donation to a scholarship bank. Participants can even share the #MyHinman YouTube video with the hashtag #MyHinman and that will count, too. Those who record and post a short video and share it with their followers or friends on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and/or YouTube will be entered to win one of five $500 cash prizes at Hinman 2017.
“The #MyHinman campaign is a creative way to celebrate the reasons we all love and value the Hinman experience,” said Dr. Jane Puskas, general chairman of the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting. “And, at the same time, raise money for three additional student scholarships.”
Participants are invited to vote on which school should receive the scholarships to disburse to a deserving student. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner announced on Friday, March 31, 2017. A list of eligible schools can be found at https://hinman.org/MyHinman. To vote, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DTFS8PL.
Hinman Housing Powered by EventSphere has committed to matching donations to help increase the scholarship amount awarded to the three winners. The goal is to raise at least $3,000, and currently the amount raised is $700.
Give Back Station
In addition to the #MyHinman campaign, there are other ways to contribute to scholarships at Hinman 2017. Once again, Hinman will host its Big Raffle, where all proceeds will be used by the Hinman Trustees to fund scholarships. Tickets can be purchased onsite in front of registration and during the meeting registration process (for Georgia residents). The drawing will be held on Saturday, March 25, at 11:30 a.m. in front of registration. Ticket holders need not be present to win. Ticket prices are $20 for one ticket, $50 for three tickets and $80 for five tickets. The grand prize is 50 percent of the net proceeds earned from ticket sales, the 2nd prize is a $2,000 Delta gift card and the 3rd prize is a $1,000 Target gift card.
The Hinman Shop will return in 2017 with a wide range of merchandise available for purchase. The sales proceeds from this merchandise also will fund scholarships. Attendees can purchase everything from a selection of t-shirts, Yeti tumblers and infant “Dentist in Training” onesies to Hinman logo accessories and the famous Hard Rock Café pins. Merchandise ranges in price from $3 to $49. The Hinman Shop is located outside the registration area.

The Hinman Tradition
The Hinman Dental Meeting is designed with a commitment to quality and professionalism and a high regard for the value of continuing education. The meeting is sponsored by the Hinman Dental Society, a non-profit organization, and all excess revenue is invested and gifted in the form of individual scholarships to dental, hygiene, assisting and lab tech students and contributions to institutions that foster dental education.
