Dental News - Discus signs distribution agreement with Zap Lasers

CULVER, CA, and PLEASANT HILL, CA, USA: Discus Dental and Zap Lasers have announced a strategic partnership whereby Discus Dental will have the exclusive right to market, sell and distribute Zap Lasers products in the global professional dental market. Beginning immediately Discus Dental will be selling the Styla Microlaser, StylaOrtho, SoftLase Pro, OrthoLase and HygieneLase products of diode lasers under the Discus Dental brand, in the US.

Discus will offer the Styla and StylaOrtho products for an MSRP of US$8,995 to doctors in the US – 20 per cent less than its existing MSRP of US$11,400. The SoftLase Pro, OrthoLase and HygieneLase products will be offered at US$4,995 – almost 30 per cent less than the current Zap Laser MSRP. At this new low price, the SoftLase Pro line of lasers will come with standard proficiency training and a 3-year warranty. This will make the SoftLase Pro one of the most affordable diode laser product available, with a long track record of quality, service and reliability.

The Styla Microlaser has received numerous awards for its innovative design and quality including Dental Products Report “2008 Product of Distinction,” the “2009 Medical Design Excellence Award,” Dentistry Today’s Top 100 Products award for 2009 and a 4.8 rating from Dental Product Shopper, the highest rating in the laser category. SoftLase Pro has also earned a top rating from Dental Product Shopper of 4.7.

Discus Dental will take over distribution, sales and marketing rights for the Zap products in the field of professional dentistry worldwide, with the exception of two existing and retained Pacific
Rim distribution channels. Initially Discus distribution will begin in the US. However, Discus will immediately work to gain regulatory approval to distribute the products in their international direct operations in Canada, Europe and Australia, as well as through the global channel of over 100 dealers.

Through the agreement, Discus will contract with Zap Lasers to provide the advanced technical support and customer care that Zap Lasers customers have come to appreciate and value highly. Discus will offer customers expanded training and support via webinars, workshops and in-office training.
