LEIPZIG, Germany: Conventionally, a two-stage method is used for the surgical treatment of 3-D bone defects. The bone defect has to be reconstructed first and implants are inserted after a healing period of six months. In a free botiss webinar on March 10, implant specialist Dr. Bernhard Giesenhagen will introduce a technique that allows bone augmentation and implantation to be performed simultaneously in a single procedure.
The bone ring technique developed by Giesenhagen is applicable for almost all indications, including sinus lift. The entire treatment time can be reduced by several months and a re-entry is not required. The use of allogenic bone rings avoids harvesting of autologous bone and thus simplifies the surgical procedure. Giesenhagen will present clinical data on the basis of 12 years of experience to demonstrate the possibilities and limitations of the bone ring technique for vertical augmentation and the treatment of 3-D bone defects.
Participants will learn about the principles of functional and aesthetic implantology, anatomical structures and different possibilities for bone harvesting. Giesenhagen will explain the bone ring technique step by step and provide further details about indications, limitations, soft-tissue management, suture technique and post-operative care.
The webinar, titled "The Bone Ring Technique — New Perspectives in Augmentation," is free of charge and will be broadcast live on Monday, March 10, from 6 p.m. GMT. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic discussed.
Registration for the webinar is now open.
