PHILADELPHIA, US: Graphy, the first company to commercialise directly 3D-printed Shape Memory Aligner (SMA) technology, featured prominently at the 2025 American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Annual Session, signalling a shift in digital approaches to orthodontics. The company’s exhibition booth drew significant interest, and its consultations, demonstrations and lectures attracted steady crowds throughout the event.
A book launch and autograph session with Dr Kenji Ojima (right), expert in advanced aligner orthodontics, were hosted at the Graphy booth.
Graphy’s SMA technology was presented in seven official scientific sessions and referenced in more than ten keynote lectures, indicating its growing presence within the orthodontic community. Beyond product demonstrations, the sessions included clinical and scientific evidence showing that Graphy’s SMA technology enables effective treatment of complex orthodontic cases—such as those involving extractions and retreatments—without the use of attachments. The presentations highlighted potential clinical advantages over conventional thermoformed or 3D-printed aligners.
Graphy Night is a popular brand event at the AAO Annual Session
Graphy Night, an event held during the exhibition, attracted over 130 attendees, including representatives of major orthodontic associations and members of the World Federation of Orthodontists. It was among the best attended of the brand-hosted events at AAO 2025.
Expansion in Latin America and strategic partnerships
At AAO 2025, Graphy announced expanded partnerships with digital dentistry companies such as Medit, Titan and Formlabs. Building on its current presence in Mexico, Chile and El Salvador, the company is extending its distribution network to Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Uruguay. In addition, the event marked Graphy’s formal entry into the North American market, a step aligned with its wider international growth plans.
Increased interest in SMA systems
The company’s aligner production systems—available at prices ranging from US$10,000 (€8,827*) to US$40,000—allow clinics and laboratories to independently produce aligners using proprietary SMA material. During the event, interest from clinics and distributors in North and Latin America rose significantly, and discussions are underway for more than 200 systems.
SMA technology redefines orthodontic standards
By integrating shape memory properties, Graphy’s SMA technology enables controlled and efficient tooth movement without the need for attachments. This capability applies even to complex treatment scenarios, such as extractions and retreatments, which traditionally require additional mechanics. The approach presents an alternative to conventional aligner methods and reflects evolving standards in orthodontic care.
Graphy Night, featuring international orthodontic experts, was a well-attended event.
