TEMPE, Ariz., US: Align Technology has introduced the iTero Design Suite, a new software innovation aimed at helping dental professionals increase practice efficiency and enhance the patient experience by reducing treatment times. This intuitive software is designed for in-practice 3D printing and is expected to be available in select markets later this year.

The iTero Design Suite offers users a streamlined way to design models, bite splints and restorations for in-practice 3D printing. It seamlessly integrates with leading 3D printers and enhances the Align Digital Platform, which includes a portfolio of customer-focused technologies that enable end-to-end workflows for dental professionals.

“I’m excited to be working with the iTero Design Suite. I was looking for an in-practice design software that my team and I could use. The workflow is fast and efficient. We can easily design restorations, hard splints, models and mock-ups to show patients the possibilities of cosmetic dentistry,” said Dr Steven Glassman, a cosmetic dentist based in New York and a speaker for Align who participated in the limited market release of the new software.

“We have seen growing interest in 3D-printing technology from our customers, and bringing the iTero Design Suite to market reflects our commitment to offering our customers the digital transformation solutions they need to enhance practice efficiency and patient experiences through powerful technology,” said Karim Boussebaa, executive vice president and managing director of the iTero scanner and services business at Align Technology.

The iTero Design Suite leverages the capabilities of exocad’s CAD/CAM software to provide simplified and user-friendly design tools. Exocad CEO Tillmann Steinbrecher added: “With the iTero Design Suite, doctors will benefit from a flexible solution that enables seamless workflows for in-practice production using exocad’s innovative software.”

The iTero Design Suite is now available through an early access programme. Dental professionals using an iTero scanner can submit their interest via their scanner or the MyiTero portal.
