American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons - ACOMS Meeting 2012

Message From the Scientific Chair:

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to join me as we return to Palm Beach, Florida for the ACOMS 33rd Annual Scientific Conference and Exhibition, April 28-30, 2012. Palm Beach was the home to our Annual Meeting for many years in the College’s infancy and I am confident that our return will conjure up fond memories for our long-time attendees. We also look forward to welcoming a new generation of oral and maxillofacial surgeons, who will blaze the trail for our specialty in the coming decades, as they experience the cutting-edge lectures that have become the hallmark of our Annual Meeting for the first time.

In many ways, this year’s meeting is intended to be an homage to the “old ACOMS meeting” from our early years. The Ritz Carlton Palm Beach will offer a smaller, more intimate setting than recent meetings and the schedule is designed to allow more time for you to enjoy the resort and catch up with colleagues. The content of our sessions, however, could not be timelier, as reflected in the meeting’s tagline: Cutting Edge Techniques for the Contemporary Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Practice.

Our scientific sessions will feature lectures on implant dentistry and management of the edentulous patient, contemporary surgical orthodontics, and clinical applications of biological agents in bone regeneration. Our speakers, world-renowned experts in their subject matter, will be given the opportunity to speak in-depth in longer sessions.

A highlight of the meeting will be the Kurt A, Thoma Lecture: Mandibular Reconstruction a Walk Down Memory Lane, presented by the deserving winner of the 2012 W. Harry Archer Award, Dr. Robert A. Ord.

The ACOMS 33rd Annual Scientific Conference and Exhibition will keep alive our rich tradition of fellowship in surgical excellence through education for surgeons of all backgrounds and experience levels. I look forward to seeing you at this memorable event!
