According to Vident, the VITA Easyshade Compact, the second generation of the VITA Easyshade device, delivers instant, accurate shades in both VITA 3D-Master and VITA Classical shades, regardless of lighting conditions and other elements that can lead to improper shade measurement.
“By removing the cord, placing the display into the handheld unit, adding an organic light-emitting diode [OLED] and a rechargeable battery, we are able to provide an amazingly light, portable unit that is a truly unique time-saving device,” said Mark Baker, senior product manager at Vident.
The VITA Easyshade Compact eliminates the subjectivity often found when shade taking with the naked eye because of such reasons as eye fatigue, poor or inconsistent lighting, ambient light and reflections from patient makeup or clothing.
“By using a highly precise digital spectrometer and an LED fiber-optic light source that literally rests on the tooth, we are able to measure an extremely accurate shade,” Baker said. “Additionally, the clinician can measure the accuracy of restorations before seating and track bleaching progress.”
As with the original Easyshade, Easyshade Compact has the ability to measure an overall tooth shade or provide a sectioned map of the tooth from the neck to the middle and incisal edge. Dental laboratories will also continue to benefit from the ability to measure restoration shades during the buildup process and determine where adjustment may be required.
The Easyshade Compact’s LED provides consistent lighting and minimizes the need to replace the bulb. The new light source also helps maximize the life of the rechargeable battery, allowing more than a full week of typical use without recharging.
Additionally, the Easyshade Compact uses simple icons, making the controls more intuitive and efficient; the transparent infection control sleeve has been improved for easier application; and built-in memory stores up to 25 shade measurements.
Vident, A VITA Company, has been a provider of innovative dental products since 1985 and is the North American subsidiary of VITA, manufacturer of the internationally recognized Classical Shade Guide, 3D-Master Shade System and quality VITA restorative materials.
