NEW YORK, NY /ALBUQUERQUE, NM, USA: OCO Biomedical has introduced 2.2- and 2.5-millimeter I-Micro dental implants. The implants are available in both crown and bridge and O-ball. Priced at US$49 per implant, the I-Micro is designed to be an economical solution without an investment in new instrumentation.

OCO Biomedical is a USA-based company with customers and distributors worldwide. The company develops, manufactures and markets dental implants, surgical instrumentation and attachment systems. The dental implant systems are designed for single-stage surgical placement that allow for immediate load/function.

“We developed the I-Micro Dental Implant, in large part, because of overwhelming customer demand for a dental implant smaller than our 3.0 mm I-Mini,” said Dr David D’Alise, president and founder of OCO Biomedical.

“The I-Micro Dental Implant is really the first step in the logical progression to larger implants and fills a unique niche in the mini dental implant market. Dentists have made it clear to us that they’re tired of the indifferent corporate attitude characteristic of larger dental implant manufacturers and distributors where dentists constantly deal with purchases on backorder and meager customer service. We want dentists to know more about OCO Biomedical and to understand that, as a smaller company, we will recognize the needs of the dental implant community and can offer a more personalized experience to our customers,” Dr D’Alise said.

According to OCO Biomedical, the I-Micro is solidly machined with grade 5 titanium — the threads finished with our proprietary surface treatment — and uses the same wrenches and drivers as Imtec MDI and Intra-Lock MDL but offers a more aggressive thread pattern for added stability.

Other features of OCO Biomedical’s new 2.2-mm and 2.5-mm I-Micro dental implant include the following:

  • Aggressive thread pattern.
  • Sterilized/gamma radiated.
  • Delivery system designed into implant packaging.
  • Simple placement — minimal instrumentation required.
  • Recommended instrumentation: 1.8mm pilot drill or a 1.8mm osteotome for the maxilla.
  • Lengths: 10, 12, 14 & 16 mm.
  • I-Micro analog has both a crown and bridge head and an O-ball head, thus simplifying the restoration process, reducing cost and streamlining inventory tracking.
  • 002 or 003 size cap and O-ring can be used on the O-ball head.
  • O-rings are US$20 for a pack of 10.
  • Encapsulators are US$12 each.
  • I-Micro analogs are US$18 each.

According to OCO Biomedical, the patent-pending one- and two-piece Dual Stabilization Dental Implant System means higher patient satisfaction and greater revenues for dentists.
