CHICAGO, Ill., USA: Robert Gottlander, DDS, vice president of global prosthetic solutions of Henry Schein Inc., has become a lifetime honorary member of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP). He was recognized during the 44th Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists, held in New Orleans in November. Throughout his career, Gottlander has been a pioneer in the introduction of modern dental implantology and digital dentistry globally.

“Dr. Gottlander has had a major impact on oral health care, and particularly prosthodontics. He has been incredibly supportive of prosthodontics and our community through his current leadership role at Henry Schein, and his previous role at Nobel Biocare,” ACP Past President Dr. Stephen Campbell said.

Gottlander serves as vice president of Global Prosthetic Solutions at Henry Schein Inc.

“In every generation there are an enlightened few with vision, the ability to formulate the path, and then implement the abstract bringing it to reality. Dr. Gottlander is one such individual. From his pioneering efforts in the early days of osseointegration, to the application of the technology benefiting our patients, he has elevated the care delivery model: changing the landscape of dentistry and prosthodontics forever. It is a great privilege to bestow Honorary Membership of the ACP to this gifted individual,” said ACP President Dr. Frank J. Tuminelli.

“Dr. Gottlander has served as an innovator on teams to create broad, all-encompassing continuing education programs nationally and internationally. Through his associations, he has supported prosthodontic research and education at some of the top universities in the U.S. and abroad,” ACP Education Foundation Chair Dr. Lily T. Garcia said.

“I am thrilled to welcome Robert as an honorary member to the American College of Prosthodontists and for having the opportunity to do so during my tenure,” ACP Immediate Past President Dr. John R. Agar said.

Prosthodontists are specialized dentists with advanced training in oral health issues, who are committed to improving patient outcomes. From implants, crowns, veneers and tooth whitening, to full-mouth reconstruction, prosthodontists specialize in digital dentistry and CAD/CAM solutions. The ACP is the only prosthodontic specialty organization whose membership is based solely on education credentials. ACP members must be in or have completed an ADA-accredited advanced education program in prosthodontics.
