Money isn’t everything … but in these days of belt tightening and careful budgeting, people are curbing the urge to splurge at both home and office. Investing in a digital X-ray system should not even be categorized as spending — it’s a wise investment that will start to show dividends from day one.

With traditional film X-rays, the supply bill adds up quickly: fixer, developer, processor cleaners, film, mounts, envelopes — daily necessities needed in large quantities. Then there’s additional expense for required professional waste haulers to ensure environmentally safe disposal.

Wasted labor is a less tangible expense. Assistants who are paid to calm patients and discuss dental health are stuck in the darkroom, while the patient spends time alone, bored in the chair or stewing over being ignored.
