WASHINGTON, D.C., BOISE, Idaho, & PRESCOTT, Ariz.: While some dentists will probably be disappointed about the presidential election results, two members of the profession will still have their say in Washington, as both Republican Party nominees Paul Anthony Gosar and Michael Keith Simpson have been re-elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Gosar, a dentist from Arizona and former vice-chair of the American Dental Association Council on Government Affairs, won Arizona's 4th Congressional District last night against Democratic candidate Johnnie Robinson in a landslide. Incumbent member Michael Keith Simpson also defeated his opponent Nicole LeFavour (D) in Idaho and will continue to represent the state's 2nd Congressional District.

Seventy-two-year-old Simpson worked as dentist in Blackfoot, Idaho, until 1984, when he entered politics through election to the Idaho House of Representatives. He has served in the U.S. House of Representatives for eight consecutive terms since 2000.

For Gosar, this is the first time that he has been re-elected. He first entered the House as representative for Idaho's 1st Congressional District in 2010.

According to the last polls, the Republicans will retain their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives for the next two years. President Barack Obama won the presidential election against Republican nominee Mitt Romney by 303:206 votes (final votes still pending in Florida).
