They say everything is bigger in Texas, and the organizers of the 2021 Academy of General Dentistry annual meeting, AGD2021, say the event will live up to that expectation. Being held in person from June 9 to 12, with a smaller virtual component for those who are more comfortable that way, AGD2021 will present up to 3,000 dental professionals with opportunities in learning, mentorship and networking.

In Austin, attendees can expect a variety of advanced hands-on education along with clinical and practice management discussions in an innovative one-hour lecture format. All of the continuing education earned at an AGD meeting can be applied to the AGD fellowship and mastership awards.

The keynote speaker for AGD2021 is motivational speaker Scott Burrows, known for his miraculous comeback from two tragic life-altering accidents. He will speak on the concepts of vision, mindset and grit to life, a platform that grew from his life experiences finding himself living as a quadriplegic and advancing up the ranks of corporate America, only to leave it behind to motivate others to a life of greatness.

“AGD’s annual scientific session has earned a reputation for having some of the finest dental continuing education in the word,” said Bruce Cassis, DDS, MAGD, AGD president. “I’m sure everyone has heard that everything is bigger in Texas. This will hold true for AGD2021’s annual scientific session. Held in the city of Austin, the capital of Texas and the live music capital of the world, you will find a spirit of creativity and innovation while showcasing Texas history as well as our Texas AGD member pride.”

The AGD chose Austin as the location for AGD2021 because of its family-friendly culture that boasts an unrivaled array of music venues that suit all tastes. The historical location has an impressive and diverse culinary scene and is world-famous for its Texas barbeque and Tex-Mex cuisines.

Austinites pride themselves on creativity, and attendees can explore the works of designers, painters, sculptors, writers, photographers, filmmakers, dancers and musicians at any day of the week in a variety of venues. The meeting venue is within walking distance to the hotels and just steps away from all the amazing fun that Austin has to offer.

AGD2021 will take place at the Austin Convention Center. Registration is open through June 8 and includes the keynote speaker session, 20-Minute Dental Pearl lectures, access to the exhibit hall with more than 100 exhibitors, scientific e-poster presentations, a complimentary oral cancer screening and the president's welcome reception on Thursday, June 10.

Because of limited classroom capacities, there is no on-site registration available this year. Final course selections must be made by June 8.

You can find out more information and register at www.agd.org/agd-meeting.

AGD2021 Hybrid Program

For those who would prefer to learn virtually, the AGD2021 virtual option includes a pre-packaged selection of six lectures. The program will take place June 9 to 12 and live stream from the courses being held in the Austin Convention Center.

These courses are hard-to-find C.E. that will provide attendees with an educational experience and ability to earn 18 credits. The hybrid program costs $249, and a complete course schedule can be found online.
