Join the Academy of General Dentistry on Saturday, June 12, to help celebrate the 2021 fellows, masters and lifelong learning and service recognition (LLSR) award recipients.

AGD2021 is being held in person from June 9 to 12 at the Austin Convention Center. The Convocation Ceremony will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Level 4, Ballrooms D-G. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, capacity is limited, but the event will be livestreamed for those watching at home.

The fellowship and mastership awards and the LLSR designation are AGD’s highest honors. The fellowship award is presented to dentists who seek to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession. To receive this honor, dentists must complete 500 hours of continuing dental education, pass a comprehensive exam and fulfill three years of continuous membership in the AGD.

For AGD’s mastership award, dentists must earn their fellowship award and complete an additional 1,100 hours of continuing dental education. Dentists who have earned fellowship or mastership from AGD make up a distinct group — they represent less than 1 percent of all general dentists practicing in the United States and Canada.

The LLSR award is formal recognition for AGD masters in the areas of continuing education, dental-related community service and service to organized dentistry. The prestigious LLSR award symbolizes a member’s dedication to remaining current in dentistry and giving back to his or her community.

Following the Convocation Ceremony, all meeting attendees can celebrate the accomplishments of the 2021 fellows, masters and LLSR recipients at the Convocation Celebration. Head down to Stubbs BBQ Restaurant from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to join AGD leaders and members, along with families and friends, for an entertaining reception. The ticketed event will feature hors d’oeuvres, champagne and live entertainment.
