NEW YORK, NY, USA: The American Dental Association, in an effort to help dental professionals make informed purchase decisions about products they may use or are considering purchasing, publishes the ADA Professional Product Review (The Review). This year, the ADA is offering a complimentary subscription to The Review to international readers.
The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs oversees the quarterly publication, which is designed to provide unbiased, scientifically sound comparisons of professional dental products. The ADA has offered The Review to its member dentists as a benefit since 2006. Now, the ADA is offering the publication to the broader international dental audience.
“As the dental market becomes more global in approach, many products are offered on a worldwide basis, therefore making much of the content in The Review timely and relevant to the international dental community,” says Dr David Sarrett, editor of The Review. Dr Sarrett is a professor of dentistry and the associate vice president for health sciences, academic affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, VA, USA.
A Clinical Evaluators Panel, made up of more than 1,900 volunteer ADA members, provides feedback about products through online surveys. They also supply the critical link between laboratory testing and real clinical practice. Experts in the field of dental materials and equipment provide input through panel discussions and interviews. Tests are conducted by the ADA Laboratories, which have developed sophisticated testing apparatus to evaluate a variety of products used in the dental operatory.
Past issues of The Review include articles addressing concerns about lead in dental crown materials, test results for flowable composites, intraoral cameras, digital radiography, curing lights, CAD/CAM systems, electric handpieces, and much more.
“The Winter 2010 issue offers comparative data for selecting polishing systems most suitable for our readers based on their professional preference, the type of restorative materials they use and their specific patient needs,” says Dr Sarrett. “And, the expert panel delved into composite contouring, finishing instruments and clinical techniques while the ADA Laboratories conducted an impressive evaluation of polishing systems.”
To better acquaint international dental associations, professionals and industry members with the indispensible, high-quality information found in this resource, the ADA is inviting the international dental community to register for a complementary e-subscription to the four issues of The Review in 2010.
To register for the complementary, four-issue e-subscription, interested subscribers can visit www.ada.org/2131.aspx. The offer is valued at US$124.
