CHARLOTTE, N.C., US: Embodying “The future of care”, Dentsply Sirona has released a number of new products and solutions that add to its integrated portfolio at this year’s Dentsply Sirona (DS) World in Las Vegas. Attendees have also been shown exciting updates to the DS Core cloud-based platform and have shared in the reveal of a new tool for the SureSmile solution.

As one of the dental industry’s most anticipated annual clinical education events, DS World takes clinicians into the future. Each year, Las Vegas becomes a powerful networking hub for thousands of dental professionals who look forward to more than 100 educational expert-taught courses. Participants from around the world connect with fellow professionals, exchange best practices and ideas, and discuss challenges. They always leave inspired and ready to put into practice new skills and knowledge in order to move dentistry into the future.

DS Core updates

DS Core supports dental professionals throughout the entire patient journey, from image capturing to treatment. The platform connects practice team members, equipment and services, enabling seamless collaboration with specialist partners and laboratories. It also contains useful tools to aid in patient communication. At DS World Las Vegas, the company is excited to highlight several updates to DS Core, including to the communication canvas and ordering.

Communication canvas updates

The communication canvas in DS Core is a tool for patient communication where 2D and 3D media can be arranged and displayed side by side to support patient communication and drive acceptance. It now allows annotations (freehand drawing and text) on 2D radiographs, 2D media and 2D CBCT slices. Additionally, the capability of viewing even more data formats, such as STL and PLY, has been added, making DS Core a powerful communication and collaboration tool for users of third-party intra-oral scanners. Furthermore, dentists can now share 2D media and diagnostic imaging scans straight from the communication canvas with patients, making file sharing with patients easy and compliant with EU and US data protection regulations. The updates also make the system more mobile-friendly.

Unified ordering updates

DS Core’s new integrated ordering solution connects dental practices with laboratories and services, making it easy to place and manage orders and allowing simple and supportive communication and collaboration. An update to the chat function further improves communication through better accessibility from mobile phones and by providing laboratories with the ability to export their worksheets as PDFs.

SureSmile Simulator powered by DS Core

Imagine showing your patients their new smiles before they start treatment. With the new SureSmile Simulator, clinicians will be able to do just that, allowing the patient’s possible future smile to speak for itself. The SureSmile Simulator, powered by DS Core, empowers dental professionals to transform treatment conversations by showing patients the potential aesthetic benefits and helping them make informed and timely decisions.

Prior to treatment planning, the SureSmile Simulator assists dental professionals in evaluating each case. By measuring initial models and generating estimated treatment duration and complexity from the post-simulation results, clinicians can enter the planning phase with greater insight.

Andreas Frank, executive vice president and chief business officer at Dentsply Sirona, said: “This year’s DS World theme, ‘The future of care’, is not just about imagining the possibilities of digital dentistry, but seeing these possibilities come to life with DS Core at the heart of our next wave of innovation in dental care. At DS World, we aim to unite with dental professionals to help them move forward with confidence and advance our shared vision of transforming dentistry together.”

Midwest Energo and OSSIX Agile will initially only be launched in the US.

Participants can also take part in the DS Core Showcase, a new educational experience which will help attendees gain a true understanding of the power of the cloud solution in a realistic practice environment.
