HATFIELD, Pa., USA: DEXIS has donated Platinum intra-oral digital sensors and image management software to Share A Smile, a non-profit organization that provides dental services for the homeless to help them become employable again. The clinic operates in Provo, Utah.
DEXIS, along with Henry Schein Practice Solutions (makers of Dentrix Practice Management Software) and Reality Engineering (creators of Guru patient education software), provided the Share A Smile charity clinic with robust hardware and software, as well as peripheral equipment.
All these donations allow the clinic to operate with leading technologies that can help the volunteer healthcare providers improve patient care.
“A few years ago, we were providing care to children on the Indian reservation,” said Dr. Eric Vogel, president and founder of Share A Smile. “I still have a vivid memory of one young boy who was given some glasses who then proceeded to run around the gym, gleefully yelling ‘I can see! I can see!’ In many ways, my new DEXIS sensors make me feel like that little boy. We have spent years trying to provide care with no images or images that were so blurry that it was mostly guess work. Now I have beautiful new sensors and finally, I can see.”
“We are so impressed by the work that is being done at the Share A Smile Clinic,” said Candy Ross, director of industry and professional relations for DEXIS. “And we are delighted to be able to play a part in assisting the Provo volunteers to be more efficient in their diagnosis and treatment by supplying DEXIS digital x-ray sensors along with the imaging software. This group of people is making a difference in the lives of people in need. It goes to show what can be accomplished when dental companies and clinicians get together with a common goal.”
