DETROIT, Mich., USA: There is no better way to see the evolution of dentistry than with leisurely strolls through the exhibit hall, year after year, at the AGD Annual Meeting & Exhibits. And with this year’s theme being “Rethink. Refresh. Renew,” it is even more apt to take a look at some products and technology that could help change the way you practice on a daily basis.

Here is a sampling of what is available:

You can catch a quick demonstration of the new Isovac by Isolite Systems. The device attaches to the Isolite Mouthpiece, creating a system that holds the patient’s mouth open, retracts the tongue, delivers plenty of light and provides continuous hands-free vacuum suctions throughout the procedure.

Generating a lot of interest at the Shofu Dental Corp. booth is the EyeSpecial C-II Digital Dental Camera. Shofu describes the camera as being the only one on the market designed specifically for dentistry. It features eight pre-set dental shooting modes, a lightweight body design and a water-and-chemical-resistant outer surface. According to the company, the camera’s “intuitive one-touch operations make for fast, easy and consistent images every time.”

Over at the Orascoptic booth, you can try on the new Nano HD loupes, which are not just high-definition but also lightweight and comfortable.

At the MIS Implants Technologies booth, you can check out the MGUIDE Guided Implantology System, which is designed to streamline and simplify treatment planning for dental implants. The system also allows you to present a treatment plan to patients, which thereby can increase their comfort level.

At Ivoclar Vivadent, there’s lots of excitement about e.max ceramic, which is ideal for correcting cracked or chipped teeth, discoloration or unsightly metal restorations. You can stop by the booth to get your picture taken and be interviewed for social media about this and many other products.

At Ellman International, you can see a demonstration of the company’s Surgitron line of advanced radiofrequency (RF) generators. Operating at a frequency of 4.0 MHz, the Surgitron is designed to provide surgical precision and controlled hemostasis for a variety of general dentistry procedures, including gingivectomies, frenectomies, crown and bridge preparations, pulpotomies, incision and drainage, and coagulation.

Of course, these are only just a few of the available products and technology here at the AGD, so make sure to hit every aisle — you never know what you might find! The exhibit hall is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
