National Brush Day is celebrated every year on Nov. 1, the day after Halloween, to promote children’s oral health. By reinforcing the importance of brushing for two minutes, twice a day, families can help children establish healthy routines that can carry into adulthood.
This year, the DTA Foundation is continuing its #NBDDentSquad initiative as part of the National Brush Day awareness campaign. The DentSquad makes oral health education fun with four oral health superheroes: Captain Paste, Doctor Brush, Floss Fury and The Cool Rinse. Families can join the DentSquad by completing coloring sheets and activities and sharing their creations on social media using #NBDDentSquad or uploading them to NationalBrushDay.com for a chance to win one of five $100 Amazon gift cards.
The DTA Foundation is also providing free downloadable resources to help families, dental professionals and organizations spread the National Brush Day message. Download National Brush Day resources at dtafoundation.org/our-impact/campaigns-and-communications/national-brush-day/.
A continued focus on children's oral health
Under the leadership of DTA Foundation Board Chair Tim Long, chief commercial officer at A-dec, the foundation has made children's oral health a special focus, working to help more children build a strong foundation for lifelong oral health.
"As we expand our focus on children's oral health, we want to bring as many kids and families into our National Brush Day celebration as possible," Long said. "Every child deserves a healthy smile, boosting their confidence while improving their oral health. Building these good habits early is an important step toward making that possible."
The message this National Brush Day is simple: Become your own oral health champion, join the DentSquad, and help your family maintain healthy, happy smiles.
