In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti in January, all manner of relief supplies are desperately needed. To help, two California-based businesses — Ashtel Dental, a dental supplier, and 7 Day Dental, a dental practice — have donated 20,000 children’s toothbrushes.
The donation from Ashtel Dental and 7 Day Dental was given to the Giving Children Hope Foundation, after Ashtel Dental and 7 Day Dental heard of the foundation’s plans to send supplies to children in Haiti who had lost their homes and their families in the recent earthquake.
Ashtel Dental, based in Fontana, CA, USA, is a supplier of digital imaging, integration, software, marketing, website and printing solutions to dental offices. Ashtel Dental is also the manufacturer of the popular BrushBuddies children’s talking toothbrush. 7 Day Dental is a practice located in Anaheim, CA, USA.
“We want to help however we can,” said Yousuf Nabi, vice president of marketing for Ashtel Dental, in a press release announcing the donation. “Our prayers are with everyone in Haiti, and we hope our small donation helps those in need during this tough time.”
Giving Children Hope has already sent 47,000 pounds of medical supplies and disaster relief, as well as US$1 million worth of life-saving pharmaceuticals to treat the survivors in Haiti. The organization has also sent two relief teams to Haiti to administer and distribute aid and to assess current needs on the ground.
The foundation will continue to accept monetary donations and new relief product for those in Haiti, according to Harmony Trevino, the foundation’s communications coordinator.
“This is an ongoing relief effort where Giving Children Hope will continually send food, water, hygiene products and medical supplies,” Trevino said.
