The American College of Prosthodontists is taking Southwest Florida by storm from Wednesday through Saturday. The JW Marriott Marco Island will host this year’s event, which is being led by Program Chair Dr. Caroline Nguyen and ACP President Dr. John Ball.

Attendees will quickly notice the theme entitled “Thriving Practices: Diverse Approaches and Common Goals.” Event organizers say they hope to emphasize relevant evidence-based education in the beautiful setting of Southwest Florida.

During the next several days, attendees will hear from several speakers and learn new techniques to improve patient outcomes. Guest speakers from prosthodontics, medicine and other dental specialties will share ideas and tips to help your practices.

Some of the highlights include how to set up a successful surgical prosthodontic practice, oral restoration in the head and neck reconstruction, and the integration of digital workflows across all phases of prosthodontics.

When you’re not attending a session, stroll through the exhibit hall and see the latest offerings. This year the exhibit hall will be open Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 7a.m. to 2p.m.

This year another popular event is back — the 2024 resident and dental student poster competition. Residents and dental students submitted an abstract and digital poster that are now on the 2024 ACP Annual Session Poster website. The posters give students a chance to “highlight scholarly activity, promote research and engage students.”

Presentation topics include research results, clinical outcomes and laboratory techniques.

Also back this year is the 2024 John J Sharry Prosthodontic Research Competition, which is held to stimulate and acknowledge original research in prosthodontics. The six finalists will present live during the final round of the 2024 ACP Annual Session, and the top three winners will receive a cash prize.

There will be time for some fun in the Florida sun at this year’s event too. Join your old friends and new ones for the ACP Beach Party, taking place Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be beach games, light refreshments and a cash bar. It’s a great opportunity to unwind while enjoying some downtime at one of Florida’s best beaches.

You’ll return to the beach Friday evening to say goodbye to the 2024 event with the Annual Awards and President’s dinner. During the special event, ACP President Dr. John Ball will present the 2024 Awards of Distinction. Individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the college will also be recognized. It’s an opportunity to recognize colleagues making important milestones while enjoying the glorious sunset and a scrumptious dinner on the sand.
