Dental News - American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry honors Dr Jimmy Eubank

HONOLULU, HI, USA: Dr Jimmy Eubank, a world-renowned speaker and researcher in the field of cosmetic dentistry for more than 30 years, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 25th Anniversary Scientific Session of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), held here recently.

The award is given to a dentist who has made an enormous and lasting contribution to excellence in dentistry. In 25 years, the AACD has honored only two other dentists with the Lifetime Achievement Award — Dr Frank Spear and Dr Buddy Mopper.

Dr Eubank teaches advanced cosmetic dentistry to practicing dentists around the world. He also holds the unique distinction of being the only dentist who is accredited by the AACD as both a dentist and a laboratory technician. In addition to his private practice, Dr Eubank heads up the esteemed Eubank Institute for Advanced Clinical Education in Dallas, TX, USA, which offers hands-on training for dentists in an intimate learning environment.

2009 AACD President Dr Mickey Bernstein presented the award to Dr Eubank during a special ceremony. “After a lifetime of contributions to the AACD and dentistry, no one exemplifies our principles of education and is more deserving of the AACD Lifetime Achievement Award than Dr Jimmy Eubank,” Dr Bernstein said.

“I am greatly honored to receive this award from the academy especially given the strength of past recipients and the current talent in our profession,” said Dr Eubank. “Very few things in life are seldom the work of a single person — and this is no exception. I must also pay tribute to the academy for its enormous work in advancing the field of cosmetic dentistry as well as the pioneering contributions made by my many mentors, without which, none of this would have been possible.”

In addition to his other affiliations, Dr Eubank is a faculty member and the director of the post graduate esthetics continuums at both UCLA and LSU Schools of Dentistry. He also steered and co-directed the post-graduate programs at the University of Minnesota and the State University of New York in Buffalo. Additionally, he has designed the patented E-appliance as well as the E-pontic, the E-tab, and the Eubank Bridge, all of which are manufactured at Eubank Laboratories. He is the past accreditation chairman of the AACD and also a recipient of the President’s Award and the Humanitarian Award for his contributions to dentistry.

Dr Eubank received his dental education at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, where he was presented the Master Practitioner Award.
