NASHVILLE, Tenn., USA: The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) held its Annual Meeting & Exhibits June 27 to 30 in Nashville. Between a presentation from world-renowned forensic anthropologist Bill Bass, a welcome reception in the exhibit hall and educational sessions on everything from veneers to photography to social media, the meeting was filled to the brim with things to do and products to see.

There was also the world of Nashville waiting just beyond the convention center doors. But fortunately, it was only just beginning. During the three days of the event, there was plenty more to explore in Music City. From numerous continuing education offerings (everything from digital dentistry to implants to pediatric dentistry) to networking opportunities (such as Saturday night’s presidential concert at the Ryman Auditorium) to new products, the world of dentistry was at the fingertips of attendees.

In the exhibit hall, here are a few products and booths that were worth a look:

Shofu Dental Corp.’s latest addition to the Giomer family is the BeautiCem SA. This new self-adhesive, dual-cure resin cement incorporates Giomer filler particles, providing high-bond values across all substrates. The product is designed to give dentists extra peace of mind for all cementation needs as well as simplified placement procedures, according to the company.

Brasseler USA offered its EndoSequence BC Sealer, a component of the company’s complete EndoSequence endodontic obturation system, which incorporates bioceramic nanotechnology. Brasseler says that since its introduction in 2009, many positive studies have established BC Sealer as a new standard for successful endodontic obturation procedures. Unlike conventional sealers, BC Sealer utilizes the moisture naturally present in dentinal tubules to initiate its setting reaction.

Sunstar GUM was turning its attention to those patients who have braces and other orthodontic appliances as well as bridges, implants and other unique oral hygiene needs. Sunstar’s new EasyThread Floss is made just for them and comes packaged in a traditional dispenser that effectively isolates each strand to eliminate tangles and waste. Sample envelopes containing five individual strands are available.

These were only a few of the multitude of products available in the exhibit hall.
