CHICAGO, Ill., USA: The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) recently announced that 302 dentists earned the AGD’s prestigious Fellowship and Mastership Awards, which were presented during a special Convocation Ceremony on June 29 at AGD 2013 Annual Meeting & Exhibits in Nashville, Tenn. “We are proud to honor our 2013 Fellows and Masters for their commitment to continuing education and the dental profession,” said AGD President Linda J. Edgar, DDS, MEd, MAGD.

“These individuals have distinguished themselves professionally among their peers and are role models for their fellow dentists and members of their communities,” Edgar said.

This year, the AGD presented the Fellowship Award to 211 dentists. This award recognizes dentists who seek to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession. To receive this honor, a dentist must complete 500 hours of continuing dental education, pass a comprehensive exam, and fulfill three years of continuous membership in the AGD.

An additional 91 dentists received the Mastership Award, the highest AGD honor available and one of the most respected designations within the dental profession. To receive this award, a dentist must earn the Fellowship Award and complete 1,100 hours of continuing dental education.
