ATLANTA, Ga., USA: The ICOI Winter Implant Symposium is being held today (Thursday, March 17) until Saturday, and those who have gathered in-person at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis have access to top-notch dental implant continuing education.

“After two years of living with the pandemic, it is time to meet up with experienced colleagues, private practitioners and research-based clinicians who will share their views and opinions on modern analog and digital implant dentistry,” Dr. Marius Steigmann, scientific program chairman of the meeting, said in a welcome letter published by the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

“This symposium will focus on comprehensive strategies for implant planning, strategic implant placement, GBR prosthetic restoration for soft tissue development and management of implant complications as well as featuring state of the art surgical and restorative procedures.”

The theme of the meeting is “State of the Art Implant Dentistry.”

The proceedings begin today with several half-day pre-symposium courses. Among them is “Maxillary Sinus Lift Hands-on Workshop,” presented by Dr. Jaime Lozada. This workshop, taking place from 8 a.m. to noon, is designed to provide a deep understanding of the available techniques for the treatment of patients with pneumatized maxillary sinuses.

The general session begins today at 1 p.m. with “From Surgery to Final Prosthetics — Keys to a Completely Digital Window,” presented by Dr. Rick Ferguson, and concludes with “Partial Extraction Therapies — Surgical Procedures to Prevent Soft and Hard Tissue Collapse,” presented at 4:45 p.m. by Dr. Darcio Fonseca. Morning and afternoon sessions continue all day Friday and Saturday.

In addition to the pre-symposium and general session courses, there’s also an auxiliary program, a slate of ADIA certification courses, and table clinics. Check your show guide for a complete schedule of all educational offerings.

The exhibit hall, located in the Marquis Ballroom, is open today (Thursday) from 1 to 5:30 p.m.; Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A welcome cocktail reception with exhibitors is being held today from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The meeting also offers plenty of opportunities for socializing and networking with colleagues. On Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m., you can attend the Advanced Credentialing Awards Ceremony, celebrating ICOI’s newest class of diplomates, masters, fellows and ADIA fellows. Attendance at this social event provides an opportunity for family, staff and other ICOI members to celebrate and toast the newest credentialed members. Dress is business attire.

While you are here in Atlanta, you might also want to take advantage of shopping, dining and entertainment destinations, many of which are within walking distance of the host hotel.
