CHICAGO, Ill., USA: How nice would it be to have a personal assistant with you throughout your work day, always ready to tell you everything about the patient you’re about to see right before you enter the room, no matter how hectically the day unfolds? Even better, instead of an assistant tapping your shoulder with the information, how about if a hidden tap to your wrist also reveals exactly what you need to know about the patient: name, allergies, other medical issues, number of days since last visit, what took place then, what is needed today, birthday, some other personal tidbit and more.

And, on top of that: Everybody in your practice, especially those with the most pressing need to know, are prompted with the same information.

Practices already are using the technology, with staff members wearing an Apple Watch or using an iPhone to automatically receive “taps” and access to critical patient data right when needed.

Attendees at the recent Midwinter Meeting could see the technology by Simplifeye in the Dentrix booth. The integration of Simplifeye with Dentrix marks the first time that wearable technology, such as smart watches, connect with dental practice management software, enabling practitioners to simplify everyday office procedures, streamline the clinical workflow and provide a more personalized patient experience.

In the exhibit hall, Henry Schein Practice Solutions announced its exclusive distribution agreement with Simplifeye. Available to dentists and dental practitioners only through HSPS, Simplifeye is certified as “Dentrix Connected.” You can also visit www.Dentrix.com/Simplifeye or www.simplifeye.co to see how Simplifeye connects patient information from Dentrix practice management software to Apple Watch (Series 1 or 2) wrist-wearable devices and iPhone mobile digital devices.

“This particular solution hits the sweet spot perfectly,” said Henry Schein Chief Technology Oficer Jim Harding in the Dentrix booth on Friday when announcing the agreement.

“It’s the perfect marriage between Silicone Valley and the best in dentistry,” added Simplifeye cofounder Zach Hungate.

Also in the booth was Simplifeye Cofounder Ryan Hungate, DDS, the orthodontist who came up with the idea after repeatedly having to engage patients, wishing he had quicker, easier access to details that would increase efficiencies and personalize the experience.

“It’s a wearable solution that gives you all of the information you need,” he said. “When everybody in the office is wearing the watch, it’s like having flight control.”

To integrate Simplifeye with HSPS’s practice management software, the Simplifeye application is available on the App Store. From there, dental teams can subscribe for Simplifeye with HSPS. Dental teams can access the application from an Apple Watch or iPhone and receive real-time patient information, such as a patient’s name, time of arrival, scheduled procedure and how long he or she has been waiting to be seen. Every piece of equipment in a Dentrix office that has an IP address, can tap in.

Dental teams can also receive messages from their Apple Watch or iPhone, indicating where patients are in the practice workflow to help increase production output and reduce wait times. By providing this critical information, the application ensures the entire care team is aware of treatment plans — especially when they may be away from traditional workstations — helping to mitigate risk and to manage schedules for improved practice efficiency.

Simplifeye is the first product to be launched from Henry Schein’s Global Innovation Center, which was created in June 2015 to focus on finding and building cutting-edge solutions, based on innovative technologies and business models, underscoring Henry Schein’s continued commitment to provide digital solutions for customers.
