MELVILLE, N.Y., USA: After the recent appointment of former COLTENE CEO Andreas Meldau as President of European Dental Specialties und Exclusive Products, the world’s largest provider of medical products and services has confirmed that dental veteran Robert Gottlander will be joining Henry Schein. The 55-year-old Swede is supposed to lead marketing and educational programmes for Schein’s dental prosthetic division and its related technologies.

Gottlander, who holds a dental degree from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, previously served as Executive Vice-President of Global Marketing and Products at Nobel Biocare, a position from which he resigned unexpectedly last year. Prior to that, he held a number of key management positions at the Swiss implant maker, including Executive Vice-President of Education and Products, from 1986 to 1987, during which he was responsible for the internationally acclaimed educational training programme, Nobel World Tour.

In a statement released on Thursday, President and Chief Operating Officer Jim Breslawski said that Gottlander will bring a long track record of success and a marketing background in creating relevant prosthetic product solutions to Henry Schein customers worldwide. He is further expected to leverage and grow the company’s key opinion leader network, Breslawski added.

Schein’s stocks were not affected by the announcement on Friday.
