BREA, Calif., USA: Vident President Fred Ketcho has taken over duties as CEO for longtime executive Wayne Whitehall. Besides expanding customer relations, he is expected to oversee and drive the company's performance in the North American dental market. Formerly associated with software companies Datacard and TestQuest, Ketcho has served as Vident President since April 2010.

Now retired, Whitehall founded Vident in 1984 along with two partners to distribute the product line of German restorative dentistry specialist Vita Zahnfabrik in the U.S. and Canada. Prior to that, he worked as Executive Vice President for Unitek, a California-based provider of orthodontic appliances that is now part of the 3M industry conglomerate.

Whitehall will remain on Vident's board of directors and stay on as a consultant, the company said on Thursday.

Vident distributes materials and other equipment to dentists and dental laboratories, including the VITA Classical Shade Guide, a worldwide standard for measuring tooth shade. The company is based in Brea near Anaheim, and generates sales of more than $24 million per year.
