A new year has dawned, and with it a chance to revitalize yourself and your practice by taking advantage of everything the Yankee Dental Congress 2018 has to offer. Nearly 27,000 dental health professionals and guests from around the United States are expected to attend this year’s event, once again sponsored by the Massachusetts Dental Society, in cooperation with the dental societies of Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Raising the Bar,” exemplifying how dental professionals can find innovative continuing education opportunities for clinical development in the dental field to grow not only in their personal practice but to help better the overall profession for the future.

Among the many education highlights this year, Yankee has teamed up with the Pride Institute and Tufts University Dental Continuing Education to offer a nine-day practice management continuum program. The program kicked off with a two-day event, which began Wednesday.

Interested in recent legislation efforts? The “Interprofessional Symposium: High Stakes—Medical Marijuana Pitfalls and Considerations” illustrates how dentists and the dental team need to be aware of the treatment considerations for medical and recreational marijuana users. The symposium aims to broaden attendees’ understanding of marijuana and how it impacts patients.

The new CE RECHARGED program offers continuing education like no other. Taking place in the BCEC Ballroom, the program features four sessions all focused on the future of digital dentistry.

Planmeca USA is immersing attendees in “Digital Dentistry — A Dream Come True,” while Henry Schein Dental is exploring how innovations and concept modifications shape skills and treatment-planning solutions with “The Complete Digital Design Flow in Implant Dentistry.”

A highlight is a special presentation by Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan, one of America’s most recognizable sports icons for more than 20 years, offering an inside look at the winter games and inspiring attendees in their own lives.

There are a lot of photo opportunities at Yankee this year. Look for selfie stations around the exhibit hall floor. Upload your photos to social media and make sure to tag Yankee. In addition, bring your friends and colleagues over to booth No. 131 and have your picture taken in front of one of three backgrounds.

Buying products could make you money if you shop in the right place at the right time. Mystery shoppers are out today, randomly rewarding exhibit hall visitors with free gift cards. Have you spent more than $2,500 on the exhibit hall floor? You may be able to attend next year’s Yankee Dental Congress for free, thanks to the Yankee Rebate Program.
