WANGEN, Switzerland: Candulor, manufacturer of system prosthetics, has launched a website for its KunstZahnWerk (the art of prosthetics) competition. American master dental technicians, denturists and dental apprentices can now find all information on the challenge and register online for the next competition.

The competition was established on the occasion of IDS 1999 in Cologne, Germany, and is intended to put the spotlight on the significance of total prosthetics as the market of the future and to challenge dental technicians to do their best in this field. Now, for the first time, the KunstZahnWerk competition is being held in the USA. The works submitted will be exhibited at the Candulor booth on LMT Lab Day 2012 in Chicago.

Over the past few years, Candulor has observed a considerable growth in general interest in its KunstZahnWerk competition. While participants in the competition’s first years were mostly from German-speaking countries, experts from other European countries and the US have joined the competition in recent years. According to Candulor, this speaks for the excellent and international significance the KunstZahnWerk competition has gained, as well as the status the competition brings to the participants and the laboratories.

“We present a case and once a participant has registered for the competition, he will be giventhe necessary documents, as well as certain materials, e.g. plaster models, teeth and implants,” Margit Keller, Marketing Manager at Candulor, told Dental Tribune ONLINE. “A panel of dental technology experts and a representative of a partner company supporting Candulor’s competition will evaluate the works submitted. These will be assigned a number only; no details about the participants will be given,” she added.

“Participants are welcome to submit accompanying documents too. In the past, even books and videos have been submitted. In case of a tie, the panel will review the accompanying documentation in order to make a final decision,” Keller explained.

The competition is based on Prof. Dr. Albert Gerber’s Condylar theory (lingualised occlusion), which is an acclaimed founding philosophy worldwide and one that has been proven both academically and through practical experience over the decades.
