LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA: At the 33rd Annual AACD Scientific Session, being held April 18 to 21 in Las Vegas at the Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino, you can attend more than 35 hands-on workshops, listen to 60 lectures and learn from more than 100 speakers. You can also network and socialize with some 1,300 to 1,500 dental professionals, including dentists, lab technicians, hygienists and dental team members.

In addition, you can wander the aisles of the exhibit hall to check out the latest products and technology in the industry.

This year, the educational program for AACD 2017 has been divided into three segments: the Legends, the Illusionists and the High Rollers, who will impart their wisdom, reveal their techniques and share their expertise.

During this week, you’ll gain confidence learning from the Legends who have made a name for themselves in the industry; you’ll learn how to achieve highly esthetic results from the Illusionists who skillfully create the illusion of Mother Nature; and you’ll learn how to achieve predictable results from the High Rollers who went all in on technology and won big.

For details on all sessions, and to see if there is still room available, download the AACD 2017 mobile app to your smartphone.

Accreditation

AACD accredited status is an honor of the highest professional and personal achievement. Accreditation is a journey that is both rigorous and demanding but is well within grasp. And there is no time like the present to begin the process. Here in Vegas, you can take the two required introductory courses: the Accreditation Workshop, and the Criteria Workshop. These courses will help you will gain clarity on whether the process is right for you.

If you are already in the accreditation process, you can follow the Accreditation Track lectures and hands-on programs. There is a workshop for every required case type for which you will be submitting.

Exhibit hall

There is a lot going on this week in the exhibit hall. In addition to learning about the newest products and services on the show floor, beer, wine and soft drinks will be provided in the afternoon following the educational program.

Lunch is also being provided each day, in a two-hour block of dedicated exhibitor time.

AACD Con•tin•u•um: Hands-on workshop series

If you couldn’t make it to AACD 2017 in Las Vegas, the AACD offers you additional opportunities for hands-on learning in the AACD Con•tin•u•um. AACD Con•tin•u•um consists of three intensive, hands-on workshops, taught by top Academy educators on topics that will enhance your clinical performance so that you can offer your patents better and more predictable results.

According to Michael R. Sesemann, DDS, FAACD, “Patients present to the 21st century dental practice with specific ideas and high expectations of how esthetic dental treatment can help them in their lives. These expectations must be met with expertise that takes esthetic dental diagnosis and treatment to its highest level.”

The Con•tin•u•um courses are designed to start you on a path to achieving that highest level, which may also include working towards AACD Accreditation along the way.

The workshops cover topics including bonding with composites, performing anterior esthetics, and replacing a missing tooth in the esthetic zone, and the workshops will rotate locations giving attendees destination options.

Members are welcome to register for individual courses or all three, but these educational opportunities to explore new materials and methodologies won’t be available forever – space in each course is extremely limited. Visit www.AACD.com/continuum for more information.

Easier than ever to find an AACD dentist

According to the AACD’s 2015 State of the Cosmetic Dentistry Industry Survey, the second most common method patients use for finding a cosmetic dentist is an internet search. Thankfully for AACD members, it’s now easier than ever to get found online and benefit from the consumer traffic AACD is driving to Find-A-Dentist.

The new AACD Member Directly boasts a stylish and simplified user interface, where prospective patients can easily navigate to find a dentist or lab technician by location, member level, or name. Search results display links to individual member profiles, which can be customized in several ways.

A basic claimed profile page can be customized to include your photo, an embedded Google map, your contact information, and limited patient reviews and scores. If you are looking to add a little more pizazz to your profile, you can enhance it to include your biography, additional details about your practice, links to your website and social media accounts, and before and after photos of your best work. The enhancements don’t have to end there. With a pro account, you can have unlimited patient reviews posted to multiple review sites instantly.
Additionally, your profile is SEO-friendly. This means your profile will show up in internet searches making it even easier for prospective patients to find you online.
