Carestream Dental introduces CS 9300-1

Carestream Dental, the exclusive manufacturer of KODAK Dental Systems, introduced the dual-modality CS 9300-1 at the California Dental Association meeting, held May 12-14 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.

The all-in-one CS 9300-1, the first system launched from Carestream Dental’s new extraoral imaging family, provides clinicians with exceptional image quality and ultimate practice flexibility, covering a wide scope of clinical needs. It features up to seven selectable fields of view for 3D images, ranging from 5 cm x 5 cm to 17 cm x 13.5 cm.

Additionally, the CS 9300-1 offers clinicians 2D digital panoramic imaging with variable focal trough technology.

“For practitioners who have been waiting to integrate cone beam computed tomography into their practice, the CS 9300-1 offers everything they need in one, space-saving system with exceptional image quality,” said Jeffrey H. Brooks, D.M.D., clinical director of 3D Imaging, Carestream Dental LLC.

“Frankly, images from the CS 9300-1 show patients the precise nature of their case to a degree that only the third dimension can provide,” Brooks said. “With the ability to see such significant details with this level of clarity — up to 90μm — clinicians can be more confident in their treatment plans and give a significant boost in diagnostic confidence to their patients, too.”

The new CS 9300-1 features multiple fields of view for 3D images that enable practitioners to focus on a specific region of interest by collimating the field of view, giving clinicians the ability to limit radiation exposure to patients. Also, because of the system’s fast scan times (as low as 12 seconds), clinicians capture optimal images with a lower risk of retakes needed due to patient movement.

“The wide range of selectable fields of view available with the CS 9300-1 supports practitioners adhering to the ALARA Principle, or ‘As Low as Reasonably Achievable,’ which advises that every precaution should be taken to minimize radiation exposure for patients when obtaining the necessary diagnostic images needed for treatment planning,” Brooks said.

“What’s more, the CS 9300-1 comes pre-installed with Carestream Dental’s CS 3D imaging software,” Brooks said. “This is our industry-leading imaging software that has been designed by clinicians, for clinicians. It’s so easy to use, it helps clinicians dramatically enhance treatment planning while also delivering fast, accurate results for enhanced patient communication.”

In addition to the product’s multiple imaging options, the CS 9300-1 provides a streamlined user interface and computer control system that makes exams quick and simple. Users also maximize their time spent capturing images, as the system automatically positions to the region of interest depending on the program selected; laser beams and motorized movement provide precise alignment; and preview image “scout” technology lets you evaluate patient positioning before 3D acquisition. The system’s open design makes exams comfortable for patients, and with both standing and seated options available, it accommodates patients of all sizes.
