Seattle might be known for sometimes being a little gray and gloomy, but there will be nothing gloomy going on when the 108th American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) Annual Meeting comes to the Seattle Convention Center Summit from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
With this year’s theme, “Together We Thrive,” attendees will definitely thrive as they move among hundreds of vendors at the convention center, listen to dozens of guest speakers and dance amongst iconic aircraft at the highlight event at The Museums of Flight.
This year’s event is packed with ways to earn continuing education credit. There will be eight clinical tracks with 11 topics where participants can get the whole scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including anesthesia, dental implants, dentoalveolar, orthognathic, pediatrics and pathology, reconstruction and nerve, temporomandibular joint, and trauma and cosmetic. Each track will feature evidence-based presentations, case-based roundtable discussions and the latest clinical research.
Also this year will be 45 master classes where attendees can dive deeper during sessions and really focus on high-priority clinical and practice topics. Attendees can gain practical and applicable takeaways in several workshops, cadaver labs and skills-based training sessions.
For your office team, there are more than 35 practice management sessions covering everything from coding, reimbursement and team success. You can earn up to 22.5 in-person C.E. credits while attending these events. Educational session materials will be available online, and you can earn 48 continuing dental education credits and 34 continuing medical education credits through the online platform. To access the materials, you will need your registration number displayed on your conference badge as well as your registration confirmation. You can also claim CE credit for sessions you attend via the mobile app or at AAOMS.org/MyCE.
This year’s keynote address speaker is Dr. Liz O’Riordan. O’Riordan transitioned from a highly skilled consultant surgeon to an international speaker and advocate following her own diagnosis with breast cancer. After beating the disease three times, the toll on her physically left her unable to perform surgeries. O’Riordan redirected her expertise into global health education and physician well-being. She has become a best-selling author and has been named one of the 100 Influential Women in Oncology.
Exhibit hall happenings
For three days, the Seattle Convention Center Summit will be filled with more than 100 vendors showing off their latest products and services geared toward dental implants. Check out the New Product Showcase where you and your team can see the latest products and services.
The excitement begins on Sept. 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and goes through Oct. 1 and 2, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. There will be several beverage breaks and a complimentary lunch while you have a chance to mingle with other attendees.
And don’t forget to use the Annual Meeting mobile app to play the exhibit hall game, AAOMSopoly, for a chance to win valuable prizes.
After hours
There are plenty of social events scheduled for this year’s annual meeting.
One of the highlights will have you looking up toward the stars. Join President Dr. Robert S. Clark and his wife for the annual meeting’s premier event at The Museum of Flight.
Taking place Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., it is your chance to see some of the most iconic aircraft all in one spot. Step inside the very first Air Force One that carried presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon.
Also see the very first “Queen of the Skies,” a Boeing 747 that transformed the aviation world. And peek inside the Concorde, one of the fastest passenger planes ever built.
Tickets for the event are $185 for adults and $100 for children. Food and beverages will be served as part of admission to the event.
All the information about this year’s event can be found right at your fingertips. The Dental Implant Conference Mobile App is available for Apple or Android devices by visiting the Apple App Store or Google Play from the device and searching for AAOMS Events.
