NEW YORK, N.Y., USA: Smile for a Lifetime Foundation recently thanked Ormco Corp., a manufacturer and provider of orthodontic technology and services, for helping raise more than $275,000 at its annual Damon Forum events over the past four years. The funds raised help S4L in its mission to provide free quality orthodontic care to young patients who could not afford treatment otherwise.
This year, Ormco hosted S4L’s “Smilent Auction” fundraising initiative at its annual Damon Forum in Phoenix, where more than 1,000 orthodontists gathered to learn about the latest advancements in orthodontic treatment. Ormco is a primary sponsor of S4L and provides free brackets to orthodontists who award and treat S4L scholarship recipients.
Additional event sponsors included i-CAT and TeleVox, as well as three new national sponsors, McGill & Hill Group, Ormco|AOA Lab and Orthobanc.
S4L said it is thankful for its outstanding sponsors and would not be able to provide the gift of a smile without the companies’ undeniable support. Dr. Ron Redmond, president of the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, said, “It is with deep appreciation that we acknowledge the continued support of Ormco Corp. In addition to financial support, Ormco also provides all of the braces used by our Chapters for S4L Scholarship recipients, and hundreds of man-hours in forwarding our mission: To create self-confidence, inspire hope and change the lives of children in our communities through the gift of a smile. We are delighted to work with Ormco and its wonderful spirit of giving back.”
S4L is also grateful to receive donations of cash, services and products from more than 20 other orthodontic businesses and organizations. In the past five years, S4L chapters have donated more than $1.8 million in orthodontic services to awarded scholars in North America. S4L will provide orthodontic scholarships to 1,200-1,500 children this year.
Before starting treatment, many S4L scholars are bullied, suffer from digestive problems and have low self-esteem. Through the gift of a smile, S4L orthodontists can help to build self-esteem, inspire hope and change the lives of children in a dramatic way. Many S4L scholars also participate in “pay it forward” programs through volunteerism in their communities.
The mission of Smile for a Lifetime Foundation (S4L) is to create self-confidence, inspire hope and change the lives of children in their communities in a dramatic way. The gift of a smile can do all this for a deserving, underserved individual who, in turn, can use this gift to better themselves and their community. During treatment, many S4L local chapters also encourage scholarship recipients to participate in community service through a “pay it forward” program inspiring young people to participate in lifelong giving.
