VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA: The International Congress of Oral Implantologists is hosting its World Congress XXXV. This year, the ICOI is celebrating its 45th anniversary, and the World Congress is offering attendees a wide array of education, camaraderie with colleagues and exposure to the latest technologies in the implant industry.
Implant therapy is one of the most successful treatment modalities in dentistry because of the excellent biocompatibility of titanium and the process of osseointegration, says event chairman Avi Schetritt, DMD. However, biological success is only one part of a restoration’s long-term clinical success. This meeting’s lectures will focus on the latest techniques and technologies for achieving long-term implant success, he said.
The ICOI World Congress XXXV began Thursday morning with multiple pre-congress lectures and hands-on workshops. This is being followed by the popular “Young Implantologists Program,” which showcases up-and-coming clinicians from around the world. The program continued Thursday evening with table clinics and poster presentations. Schetritt invited attendees to enjoy a drink during the cocktail hour and visit with colleagues.
The two-day main podium scientific sessions feature speakers from North America and abroad, including ICOI President-Elect Dr. Michael Pikos. The focus of the lectures is achieving long-term implant success, Schetritt said.
Attendees are gaining a wealth of knowledge by seeing what the leaders in implant dentistry are doing in their practices and learning how to incorporate these techniques into their own clinical practices, according to Schetritt.
The ADIA is simultaneously hosting its program for the entire auxiliary implant team. The ADIA main podium features renowned speakers addressing issues crucial to implant success. On Saturday, auxiliaries can choose one of four full-day certification courses that are sure to educate and energize.
