CHICAGO, Ill., USA: It’s almost time for the Chicago Dental Society’s 156th Midwinter Meeting. In just over a week, you will be able to access a wide variety of educational sessions, meet with exhibitors to learn about the newest and most innovative products in the dental industry and spend some virtual time with your staff and colleagues.

The meeting, to be held Thursday, Feb. 25, to Saturday, Feb. 27, will take place solely online in order to keep all attendees, presenters and exhibitors safe from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Every year, CDS brings together nearly 30,000 dentists, other healthcare professionals and exhibitors from throughout the world,” CDS President-elect Dean P. Nicholas, DDS, said in a press release sent out last summer. “While the camaraderie and connection afforded by an in-person event will be missed, our first and foremost concern is the health and safety of our attendees. … As essential healthcare workers, CDS dentists are 100 percent committed to ensuring that they are able to care for their patients. A virtual meeting will still allow for important education and scientific exchange. We are disappointed that we cannot be together in-person but look forward to a robust meeting.”

As a virtual event, the 2021 Midwinter Meeting promises to deliver an outstanding program along with an interactive exhibition for dental professionals.

“We understand that our participants — including dentists, their staff teams, speakers and exhibitors — rely on the annual Midwinter Meeting as a source for the latest research, premier professional education and cutting-edge innovation in dental products,” Nicholas said. “Connecting dental professionals and manufacturers is more important than ever during this time, and CDS is doing this in the safest way possible.”

To that end, the Midwinter Meeting already promises to be a can’t-miss experience. Throughout the three days, 66 speakers will present 117 no-repeat live lectures. For attendees who want to get the best value with the most flexibility, the all-access package allows you to choose any lecture you'd like during the three days of the live meeting and then catch up on any lecture you missed for another two weeks, March 1 to 15.

You must be registered and have purchased the all-access package or an a la carte lecture to gain access during the live and on-demand portions of the meeting.

For a list of courses, visit www.cds.org/meetings-events/midwinter-meeting and check out the digital Preliminary Program.

In addition to the education portion, there will be 146 exhibitors on hand. Exhibits are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day of the live meeting; daily dedicated hours are 9:30 to 11 a.m., 12:30 to 2 p.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m. when no lectures are scheduled. Exhibits also are accessible March 1 to 15. Connect with exhibitors by email, live chats and texting, and don’t forget to pick up 1 C.E. hour for visiting the exhibits every day.

If you have a rebate coupon (listed on your registration confirmation email) and would like to use it during the meeting, click on the Rebate Redemption "tile" found in the middle of the platform, click and fill our your name and contact information and upload your receipt from a Midwinter Meeting exhibitor.

For those who have already registered, an email with an individualized sequence key will be sent to your registered email address at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19. Once you receive the email and sequence key, you can log in, take a look around and get acquainted with the look and feel of the platform before the start of the meeting. The sequence key will allow access to the platform, but the “live” features will not be active until the meeting begins
