The COVID-19 outbreak has certainly tested us all — our patience, our sanity and our preparation. We’ve been awarded (yes, we think it’s a good thing) more time to ourselves and our families. Additionally, it has forced us to reevaluate how we think, the way we do things and how we run our practices.

In these extraordinary times many dental offices are closed or dramatically reducing hours to help protect patients and staff and conform to local/state requirements. Much of modern dental equipment was built around the concept of daily/weekly use and not meant to sit for longer periods of time of non-use.

Abstract: This case report aims to present a clinical case in which periapical surgery with root-end filling was performed with the use of new bioceramic-based sealers. The ease handle of these materials was verified as well as a fast bone repair in a short period. It was concluded, and, if the results are maintained in the long term, these sealers may be the first choice for these clinical procedures.

Fort Collins, CO — Waterpik, the No. 1 water flosser brand, recently evaluated the efficacy of a water flosser in addition to an oscillating power toothbrush in a four-week randomized controlled clinical trial. The study found that while brushing with an oscillating power brush alone did improve oral health, the addition of the water flosser provided significantly superior results for people with mild to moderate gingivitis.

Dental implants are placed either utilizing a one-stage approach (healing abutment placed at implant placement) or a two-stage approach (implant is covered by soft tissue at time of placement) and modification of the soft tissue to expose the implant fully may be required.

This case involved a simple placement of an implant in a site with adequate bone in an overall healthy patient. The case is significant in that it was the first case ever worldwide using the ZERAMEX XT Ceramic Implant System.
