LOS ANGELES, US: SprintRay, the global leader in dental 3D printing, has announced the acquisition of the EnvisionTEC/ETEC (formerly part of Desktop Health) portfolio of dental products, including patents, trademarks, inventory and other intellectual property related to its dental materials and 3D-printing technologies. This strategic move underscores SprintRay’s unwavering focus on dentistry and reinforces its commitment to providing dental professionals with advanced, reliable hardware and regulatory-compliant resins.

Through its purchase of EnvisionTEC, SprintRay has attained a portfolio of technologies from one of the pioneering forces in dental 3D printing. Over the last 20 years, EnvisionTEC has developed more than 200 patents, spanning 3D-printing hardware and materials, while building a strong customer base of dental laboratories and practices worldwide. Its portfolio includes platforms such as the Envision One, built on patented continuous digital light manufacturing technology, which was expanded to the Einstein printer line, as well as materials such as Flexcera, a hybrid nano-ceramic resin for 3D printing of dental prostheses that has received US and EU market clearance and regulatory certification. This transaction enables SprintRay to integrate a significant body of intellectual property, proven technologies and an established customer base to strengthen its offerings across both laboratory and chairside applications.

“SprintRay’s acquisition of EnvisionTEC’s dental portfolio ensures existing customers continue to have the tools and support they rely on, while also strengthening our position in dental labs,” said Dr Amir Mansouri, SprintRay co-founder and CEO. “Our mission to transform dentistry through accessible, reliable 3D-printing technology hasn’t wavered. This strategic move reinforces that commitment.”

Key initiatives after SprintRay’s acquisition of the EnvisionTEC dental portfolio include the following:

  • Dedicated customer support: SprintRay will provide ongoing technical support for EnvisionTEC and Desktop Health customers, ensuring that practices can operate without disruption.
  • Reliable resin supply: SprintRay will continue production of EnvisionTEC and Desktop Health resins, including Flexcera, ensuring uninterrupted workflows.
  • Cross-platform validation: SprintRay will both validate select EnvisionTEC and Desktop Health resins on its platform and evaluate the compatibility of SprintRay resins on EnvisionTEC and Desktop Health printers.
  • Dental laboratory leadership: Through the expansion of its portfolio with EnvisionTEC’s laboratory-focused technologies and materials, SprintRay will pursue innovation and new standards in dental laboratory 3D printing.
