NEW YORK, USA: Zimmer Dental, a global provider of dental oral rehabilitation products with US headquarters in Carlsbad, CA, is celebrating a milestone for one of its flagship products: the Tapered Screw-Vent Implant. Zimmer is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the implant.

According to the company, more than 2 million units have been sold worldwide, thanks to the product’s solid reputation of trust and performance. Seven prospective studies on Tapered Screw-Vent Implants have reported cumulative success rates of more than 99 per cent, the company said.

Available in 3.7mm, 4.1mm, 4.7mm, and 6.0mm sizes, the Tapered Screw-Vent Implant’s proprietary, friction-fit, internal hex platform reduces stress on crestal bone and resists abutment screw loosening, the company said.

“With triple-lead threads, MTX and MP-1 HA surfaces, and a tapered implant body, the versatile Tapered Screw-Vent Implant is the platform of choice for thousands of clinicians,” the company said. “And because of its initial implant stability, it also enables immediate restorations and immediate loading where clinically appropriate.”

A variety of prosthetic options are designed for the Tapered Screw-Vent Implant to meet the demanding restorative needs of today’s clinicians, including the titanium Hex-Lock Contour Abutment and the Zimmer Contour Zirconia Abutment (in straight and angled designs), and the recently launched Hex-Lock Short Abutment.

Surgical and Drill Stop kits, drills, motors, restorative tools and regenerative offerings, as well as education through The Zimmer Institute, are also available to provide a multifaceted and comprehensive oral rehabilitation solution, according to the company.

Zimmer Dental also recently announced the expansion of its portfolio of Plastic Temporary Abutments. These new and improved provisional abutments, offered in angled and straight designs, allow for expedient and simplified chairside modification, thereby saving clinicians time and money, the company said.

“Highly compatible with today’s acrylic and composite restorative materials, the Zimmer Plastic Temporary Abutments provide clinicians more options as they strive to satisfy patient needs and maximize results,” the company said. “The new angled and upgraded straight designs, with 1mm and 4mm cuff options, enable clinicians to select the optimal interim abutment for the patients’ soft tissue, while requiring the least amount of abutment preparation.”

More information about the implants and abutments is available from Zimmer Dental.
