Yankee Dental Congress 2021: ‘Changing the Game’

Attendees roam the exhibit hall during a previous Yankee Dental Congress. This year, while the exhibit hall only lives virtually, you can still access all the exhibitors with a simple click of your mouse. The virtual Exhibit Hall, which includes show specials and live company representatives ready to greet you, has official hours of noon to 5 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Jan. 28, and Friday, Jan. 29, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30. However, the virtual Exhibit Hall will remain active until March 1 for continued connections. (Photo: Dental Tribune America file photo)

The world has changed a lot in the past year, and Yankee Dental Congress is changing with it. For the next three days (Jan. 28 to 30), you can participate in Yankee Dental Congress 2021 via an entirely digital experience.

Yankee, which is New England’s largest dental meeting, is presented by the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS). At Yankee Virtual, continuing education and networking opportunities are available at attendees’ fingertips, at their own pace.

The meeting is available at yankeedental.com.

This year’s theme, “Changing the Game,” represents how attendees will be exposed to new ideas, products, technologies and connections to help all dental professionals continue to thrive in dentistry, according to the organizers of the event.

Must-see events at Yankee Virtual include programs such as “Organization for Safety Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) Dental Infection Control” and “Moving Past Disruption Interactive Track.”

OSAP has introduced the “Safest Dental Visit” to highlight and support safe dental visits. Topics will include principles of infection control, CDC guidelines and OSHA regulations, and dental unit water quality. The day will wrap up with a panel discussion incorporating updates and insights from governmental agencies.

In the “Moving Past Disruption Interactive Track,” dental professionals will explore how to treat disruption as a catalyst to pursue significant new opportunities for growth and sustained advantages. Dental professionals will learn how to develop a plan to confront the core disruptions that threaten existing revenues and resources.

At Yankee Virtual, industry gurus will share their stories and provide strategies for success. Attendees will experience curated content from a sampling of a few of Yankee’s top-notch presenters:

  • Roger Levin, DDS: “Building the Profitable Post-COVID Practice: Strategies to Increased Production.”
  • Karen Davis, RDH: “Evidence-Based Considerations for the Use of Aerosol-Generating Devices,”
  • Helen Raynham, MD, PhD: “Mask Acne and Dermatoses.”
  • Uche Odiatu, DMD: “4 Inflammatory Lifestyle Habits and Their Influence on Healing in a COVID World.”

Yankee Virtual will continue to provide networking and social opportunities where colleagues and friends can gather to prepare a meal with a top chef, enjoy a sampling of wine or get the heart pumping with exercise programs. Celebrity appearances are not out of the question.

Another new feature of Yankee Virtual is its partnership with IgniteDDS University that brought dental professionals the preconference series “Re-Ignite Your Practice,” which culminates at Yankee Virtual. Focusing on practice management, finances and the clinical side of the practice, “Re-Ignite Your Practice” aims to prepare dentists and team members to hit the ground running in 2021.

Connect with exhibitors

You might not be able to physically wander the aisles of the exhibit hall at this year’s Yankee Dental Congress, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still get your fix of the newest and the best products that dentistry has to offer.

In fact, the Yankee organizers claim that exhibitors will be even more accessible in this year’s virtual format than they are at an in-person meeting.

“Instead of tracking down an exhibitor or representative in a large convention center, virtual conference attendees will have many opportunities for direct communication, instant messaging and impromptu conversations at the click of a button,” organizers said in a statement on the Yankee website.

The virtual Exhibit Hall, which will include show specials and live company representatives ready to greet you, has official hours of noon to 5 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Jan. 28, and Friday, Jan. 29, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30. However, the virtual Exhibit Hall will remain active until March 1 for continued connections.

This year, there are around 80 exhibitors participating in the virtual congress. Some of the companies you can meet with include 3M, Air Techiques, Benco Dental, Biolase, Bisco, CareCredit, EdgeEndo, Henry Schein Dental, KaVo Kerr, Lighthouse 360, Planmeca, PureLife Dental, RGP, Shofu, Simplifeye, Water Pik and Weave.

Save the date for Dentalpalooza

Make sure to mark your calendars for Friday, June 4. This year, for the first time, Yankee Dental Congress organizers are planning to host an all-day Dentalpalooza.

Being held on the lawn outside the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, the outdoor event promises to be filled with fun, learning and excitement.

Attendees will be able to engage and network with close to 100 exhibitors while learning from some industry visionaries at top-notch continuing education courses. Food trucks will offer a variety of items to drink and eat for lunch, and there will also be games and chances to reconnect with friends after long months apart.

The event will last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information is coming soon, and registration will open in March. Visit www.yankeedental.com/Dentalpalooza for more information.
