The South’s largest city is set to once again host one of the largest dental meetings in the United States. The Hinman Dental Society and Atlanta will join forces from March 12 to 14 for the 113th annual meeting, to be held at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Continuing with the long-standing tradition of providing excellence to the nation’s dentistry practices, this year’s meeting will offer hundreds of workshops and lectures in order to strengthen, refresh or even implement new ideas into practice. From CPR recertification to learning how vaping is challenging dentists across the country, there will be plenty to experience.
You can choose from lectures to workshops to informational sessions for your office staff. This year there will be more than 70 speakers, so there will be something for everybody.
On Thursday, March 12 at 5:30 p.m., head to the Sydney Marcus auditorium in Building A for this year’s keynote speaker, Republican Congressman Dr. Rich McCormick. Rep. McCormick serves Georgia’s 7th congressional district. Before being elected to the House, McCormick served in the U.S. Marines and Navy as a helicopter pilot and physician. During his two decades of service, Rep. McCormick deployed to combat zones in Africa, the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan.
The exhibit hall will be the mecca of information and will be packed with exhibitors. More than 13,000 dental professionals will be wandering the aisles learning from featured speakers, trying out dental gadgets at a plethora of booths and reconnecting with old friends while making new ones. And as a special treat, there will be puppies!
The Atlanta Humane Society will be bringing puppies to pet on Friday, March 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. at booth No. 1145.
The exhibit hall will have it all when it comes to your dentistry wants and needs. The exhibit hall will be open all three days of the meeting.
In addition to the education sessions and the exhibits, there will a handful of special events to attend. On Friday, enjoy a guided tour of some of Atlanta’s most historic neighborhoods, all while enjoying a cold brew. The Atlanta Beer Bus will first head to Atlantucky, owned by hip hop stars Nappy Roots. It will then wind its way to Halfway Crooks and finally stop at Biggerstaff Brewing near Martin Luther King Jr’s birth home.
Then at 7 p.m., put on a suit — but not a wetsuit — and go for a magical evening Under the Sea at the Georgia Aquarium. Hinman’s Night Out will include dinner, dessert and two drinks. All of the exhibits at the aquarium will be open, and you can sway like you’re on the ocean to tunes from The Stephen Lee band.
For a list of all the exhibits and activities, go online to hinman.org or download the Hinman Dental mobile app to access show specials, course handouts and room locations, the exhibitor list and floor plan and more all from the convenience of your phone.
