Orlando will play host to thousands of dental professionals attending the American Dental Association’s SmileCon 2023.

Taking place today through Saturday at the Orange County Convention Center South Building, attendees will get to see demonstrations of new dental devices, earn C.E. credit and meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.

This year the exhibit hall will be packed with new and returning C.E. areas such as the Wellness and Oral Medicine Hubs and the Podcast and Influencer Hub. At this year’s event, there will be plenty of hands-on activities as well as a look into the future of AI and its role in the dental field. Dozens of companies will have their newest technologies on display, as well as instruments and games for you to try out and interact with. The exhibit hall will be open today until 5 p.m., then reopens Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a closing party the last hour.

There are several ways to learn about new products and services at this year’s SmileCon. Attend one of the DENT Talks — a chance to hear from speakers from the dental community in quick 20 minutes or less segments. You can also attend a C.H.A.T., a laid-back group of sessions where you can connect, huddle and talk with other dental professionals. And a third way to connect is with Lunch C.H.A.T.s, where you can grab a bite to eat with your favorite speaker.

If you need some time to unwind, stop by the Wellness Hub for education and activities focusing on the six stages of wellness. You can share an inspirational message on the gratitude wall and learn how to reduce the risk of injury and improve overall well-being.

A returning favorite is the SmileCon Dental Olympics. The event will take place in Dental Central and will see students from four universities trying to take home bragging rights and the trophy. The four universities participating this year are the University of Florida College of Dentistry, LECOM School of Dental Medicine, Nova Southeastern University and University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine.

Two big events are scheduled for the evening hours during this year’s event, including one of the biggest parties SmileCon has ever thrown. Tonight, event organizers have reserved the entire Universal Islands of Adventure theme park just for you. Featuring themed lands and cutting-edge rides, Islands of Adventure promises excitement around every bend. Everyone must have a ticket and shuttles will be provided between Universal Islands of Adventure and official SmileCon hotels before and after the event. Tickets are $85.

And Friday night come on out to attend the Grin & Gobblin’ Fest, a family-friendly party. Attendees can enjoy everything autumn, such as dunking for apples, pumpkin painting a hay maze as well as food and fun for children. The event takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Orlando and costs $55 for adults or $25 for children ages two and older.
